I have an elctric scooter i inherited sitting in my backyard i dont even know if it works but it looks like a perfect platform to make a segway scooter from. its got a pretty decent motor, rechargeable battery pack, and it seems with a few alterations it could become a segway.

It seems like buying a $100-$200 scooter and altering it would be much more cost effective and fun anyways feel free to give some input!:D

"it seems with a few alterations"

Google for the other guy who made his own segway, you can even download the C code that he uses.

That will get you 10% of the way there, but that guy wasn't called Dr. Noob :)

Good luck!

hehe... exactly... its very possible to do but by far a complex build, and required a good deal of parts as i recall, wasnt a very cheap project but then again it wasnt 3000$ either LOL... but then again im not sure how well it runs vs a stock segway i2 either

I seem to recall some students making a simple self balancing 2 wheeled skateboard using sensors to detect ground clearance seems simpler than trying to sample and react to several gyroscopes.
