thanks for your answer dmikula, but he url does not exist (any more). and indeed, I was looking for airplanes, cars and things like that.

You should probably just get some basic sheet metal pattern drafting texts (Lindsay's books) and design your own. If you have a 3D model something like Lamina or Pepakura will generate a flat series of shapes and locking tabs.

Of course, when I was a kid, my tin can toys were no more sophisticated than <a href="
http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/product/1611">"Romper
Stompers"</a> and <a href="
http://amos.indiana.edu/library/scripts/phone.html">Tin
Can Telephones</a>, but those are both easy to make and worth hours of fun!
