I too have been searching for news of Maker Faire Austin 2009! Last year was my first Maker Faire, and I can't stop talking about it! I'm still looking forward to introducing my friends and family to this great event and making it an Austin Tradition!

Does anyone know what's going on with this? Please give a clue!

Add my name to the list of those seeking info on MakerFaire Austion 2009. Attended in 2007, Gustav ruined my chance to attend in 2008. Bay Area too far away and too full of weird people...

The word that I got is that Austin '09 is *DEAD*.

The reason is apparently that they made so little money over '07--'08 that they felt that they would lose their shirt now that we're in a (de/re)pression.

If we're lucky, the economy will turn around soon and we can have Austin Maker in the not too distant future.

Ahh well, I needed an excuse to go to the Bay Area anyway...next year. :)

We made the trip to Maker Faire in the Bay Area (08). It was a fun. Wanted to take the kids this time and to Austin 09...sounds like that is a bust. Hope we get an economy upswing???

I've presented at Makers Faire Austin the past 2 years... 07 and 08 and the news really ruined my plans too. I'm familiar with exactly what the issue was that prevented 09 from happening and I'm very determined to get a 2010 event. Come early summer I'll be doing what I can to get everything back on track(not that I have much say but I'll do what I can). See you all there I hope.
