Hey all,
I'd like to use oscilloscope software for audio visualization on a computer, only catch is most scope software (even software designed primarily to be entertaining) requires either uncompressed WAV files or a direct feed from a mic. Could I wire a loop with 2 1/8" jacks to cycle the sound around while still running it through an amp with a 3rd line?

I've seen software something like this for the Mac; it was some little piece of freeware that installed a virtual audio input device that just captured sound data headed for output. Selecting the virtual device as the input device allowed it to be fed to any app that read live audio. I used it to grab sound clips from videos. There must exist something like this for the PC.

Otherwise, you can probably attach the line out to the line in like you're already planning to do. I don't think you'll even need an amp.
