No drivers, no software to install -- scanning a code is exactly equivalent to typing it out and hitting return, and that's all there is to it. That makes it fabulously easy to develop for, and in conjunction with Amazon's web services it's a useful little gadget. I will have a look at similar PS/2 projects to see about adapting all this for the Palm, thanks for the advice.]]>

			<![CDATA[Just one other point - in case you're not aware of it. By default the CueCat outputs an encrypted version of the barcode it's reading. This encryption can be disabled by a fairly easy hack so that the output is just the raw code. Usually this hack is referred to as a 'de-clawed' CueCat. Google will bring up sites telling you how to do this. There are several versions of CueCat, so you'll need instructions to match the one you have [assuming it's not already been hacked].<br /><br />One disadvantage of the CueCat is that it must be swiped directly over the barcode - you can't read barcodes at a distance like those supermarket scanners.]]>
