it's very rare to find a netbook that has integrated graphics card. the nb555D/nb550D combines the graphics card, as well a good audio card, as well as a subwoofer and harman speakers.

this would probably be the best computer to have a pixel qi screen with. bestbuy is currently selling them for under 400 bucks US. if anyone knows if it's compatible, please post.

i hope they start to make netbooks more powerful. atom sucks.
i hope pixel qi starts to make bigger screen sizes

u should be able to manually put in more ram. the integrated ATI graphics, and dual core should make up for it.

no, i did not. someone i guess is going to have to experiment first and report back. haha, i'd do it, but right now cash is tight =(

good thing is that if you're in north america, i believe best buy is selling them for something under $300. as they have a no hassle return policy, one could buy it from them, and return it if the screen is not compatible.

it really is annoying pixel qi hasn't joined up with a major computer company, instead of these no-namers.

news:
I bought the nb550d!

good news:
* has a 40 pin connector, located in the right place: lower left.
it's smaller than the 30 pin connector, and it provides power, as there's no separate power cable. so it looks like it's compatible with the 3Qi screen.
* I was able to install 4GB of ram. however, I could only find 1 sodimm slot, but it accepts a 4GB stick. note that the ati board seems to always reserve 25% of the installed ram. So you'll get 3gb + 1gb video
* 1M superpi in 76 seconds

bad news:
* i couldnt find a way to turn off the backlight without turning off the whole screen.
any help on that?
* video doesn't seem that fast in 2d, but it at least has better linux support than the intel ones.

can provide pictures of the dissasembled netbook if there's any interest.

haven't bought the pixelqi screen yet though.
