I am looking to start a new project, and I am not sure what hardware I should use. The project is to retrofit an old payphone to serve as a VoIP client. Functions that it should be able to do when all is said and done are: access a VoIP server (preferably a free one) via a wifi connection (not a priority, as I could run an ethernet cable just a few feet is pressed), send and receive audio from the handset, identify when the handset is hung-up, and identify the number and value of coins that are dropped into the coin slot.
I am thinking, at this moment that a raspberry pi might be my best bet for this application. What do you guys think?
