I'm a programmer that can handle the software side of things but am in need of someone that can handle the mechanical aspect involving motors, gears, pulleys, belts, etc.., preferably a machinist with own set of tools in case a custom part is required. Project involves creating a simple dispensing mechanism for a product such that it can hold several varieties of that product and dispense one unit of my choosing. Conceptually similar to a soda/candy dispensing machine but much smaller and simpler in execution; can most likely be done in a day or two if all parts are available. Pay is on per-project basis.
Am I posting in the wrong forum? I have yet to receive a response so if someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. I've looked on Craigslist for a machinist/tinkerer in NYC and can't find anything there either.
