Hello,

First time post.

Task: to turn on a power outlet (nema115) for a controlled period of time (2-4 hours) when a cabinet door is opened.

I thought it would kind of look like this:

Photosensor > timer > relay plug.

I'm at a loss on how to do this. This needs to be relatively inexpensive but more importantly cannot have exposed wires.

I found this: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/MACROMATIC-Time-Delay-Relay-6MPP3
and a socket for it: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/DAYTON-Relay-Socket-5X852

What I can't tell is the relay has a "switch" for ports 5 & 6, can this be a photocell that is "on" or a door switch that is "on"?

Thanks in advance, clearly over my head right now.

Didn't want this to go unanswered, I discussed your idea with a friend and we came up with a few ideas. You can find resources, and listen to our talk here:
